Woohyun Lim — AI Engineer

Thinking it through, then thinking again — I’m Woohyun Lim, AI engineer.

For any problem I’m solving, I relentlessly question whether this is truly the right direction, then keep refining and verifying — just as doggedly — until it feels like the problem I defined is genuinely solved. I carry that same relentlessness into learning, making each new technology truly my own.

About me

Rather than reacting to change, I move first.

New technologies pour out every single day, and change is moving faster now than ever. Rather than passively reacting to that current, I try to stay a step ahead through the active work of learning. More than just noting that “something new came out,” I love putting it to the test on real problems and relentlessly thinking through where it could actually be useful.

It started with a game.

In high school I set out to make gaming my career and chased the pro-gamer path. I stepped off it myself when the game’s future clouded over, but I learned that I go furthest when I’m immersed in something I love. Engineering is the path I chose again by that standard. From the first programming class that hooked me to the AI engineering I do today, the object of my focus has changed — the standard I choose by hasn’t. I chose this path because I love it, so I throw myself in deeply, without regret.

I quit the game; the review habit stayed.

The habit from my pro-gamer days was the post-game review — replaying finished matches and pressing on what the better play would have been. When I took on the sentiment-analysis and MRC competitions, that habit became a real edge. The goal was always first place, and even as the score kept climbing I wasn’t satisfied — I kept hunting for what to improve next; even on breaks, my head was running the next improvement. Not stopping while things are going well — that is what immersion means to me.

I deliberately put my dream projects on hold.

Most of my time right now goes into harness engineering. An LLM has a hard limit on context length, and what goes into that window decides what comes out. To handle models well, I became convinced, you have to start by designing the very standard for what to show them and how far to trust them. So I’ve put the services I want to build on hold for now, and I’m focused on building a development environment with solid guardrails in place. I believe it’s only on this foundation that the projects I want to do can be done properly.
